Unstoppable is a Lautner farms sire that looked really good at Denver.  Ilike his foot size and "fit in the box" body.

raised by Kerry Lawrence.

We should be posting a new ad with progeny pics on PVF Windfall on his page soon. Here's a bull to use to increase frame and eye appeal. He'll work really good on BC Lookouts and Marathons and many others with that body type.

Longs Shear Pleasure

Our 3/4 bull, Shear Pleasure, has favorable progeny reports. Gordon Hodges, a very knowledgeable and respectable cattleman in my opinion says the calves are extremely functional, sound, and attractive with performance. He does say, however that he did get some white out of him...so use that information as you will.  We have posted pictures of some commercial progeny pics of him on our FB page.

Simmental Bull Show
uncategorized
Wednesday 18th of January 2012 05:44:42 AM

The NWSS Bull Show was a good one.

Our BF Mr Confidence was selected Grand Champion % Bull.  This is a real world winner who is huge bodied with muscle shape and a really complete profile and structure.  The Ruth family in NE had him turned out on stalks around Christmas time so it's nice to see that good bulls can perform in low maintenance scenarios.

A son of our Premium Blend bull was Reserve Champion for Hill country Cattle.

I want to publicly thank Dr John Edwards for his comments in selecting his purebred bull calf champion. The calf is the deepest Macho you'll ever see, plus he's ruggedly built and sound with a ton of muscle shape.  Visually, he could be a tick longer in his neck for "ideal" show ring conditions. Dr. Edwards realized on paper he's not built for calving ease, but he said...lets face it ...cows need bred too. He also said that he once picked a Champion Steer that wasn't ideal fronted at the American Roayl, but he added that the steer also won the carcass contest, and laughably, he said..who eats the neck anyways.  My hat is tipped to Dr. Edwards and Tom Hook for that pick.

Chopper is healthy again after surviving a nasty injury at REI last year in the tornado that hit there. Congrats to Lucas Wisnefski for having Grand Champion % Simmy in the junior show with his Chopper daughter.

James Felt from NE, who has one of the better herds in the country just purchased Chopper's brother from Kraenow/Griswold.  His name is Custom Built.

You Canadians out there...there is now Sweet Meat semen at Alta Genetics in AB. Semex previously handled him, but has not re-ordered any to sell this year.  As you probably know,he sired the $20,000 heifer at Agribition.

KLER Make It Rain
uncategorized
Wednesday 18th of January 2012 04:28:32 AM

Congrats to the Ritchie family with their Make It Rain daughter, who was Reserve Champion purebred in the junior show.

Make It Rain is a great Cattle Visions story.  After Cliff Kaeler did a lot of winning with his Beyonce heifer by Powerline, he called me up several years ago and asked me what to mate her to.  I told him DW Foundation, who was bred in the good Werning herd and owned with Sutherly's in Ohio. (You know Werning's...., the ones who own Dream Catcher, Remington Lock n Load, Warehouse, and Yardley High Regard among others)

I thought Beyonce needed prettied up a bit in her front third, and after visiting Sutherly's in Ohio, I knew Foundation would do that. Make It Rain is the result. Looks to me like Make It Rain's EPDs are pretty good for the paperpushers and obviously are going to work in the real world of the cattle business too.  He'll create "true value"!

Lets generate an EPD on that Simmental Association!  And new Board member Brian Defreese just might do it. Congrats new board members!

Also, typo in catalog...Make It Rain is homozygous both.

Angus bull pens in the yards

In no particular order...here are my thoughts....

HF Tiger, HF Prowler & Soo Line Motive are going to be really popular this season. These pedigrees look to be improving feet while adding depth and muscle shape.

VIN MAR O'Reilly Factor is going to really provide marketable progeny that are good!  Bear Mountain, Bush Angus & JACS Ranch each have really good bulls out of him here.

VAR Rocky is adding performance and size.

WK Bobcat looks to me like he's going to be a great heifer bull to sample this season.  John Goggins has a really nice pen of bulls out of him here.  These bulls are deep bodied and good structured.

Connealy Consensus will be popular for adding performance! Will work best on cleaner fronted females.
